The Friends of Peninsula State Park are gearing up to take the next step in improving the park’s popular trail system. In addition to a trail work day Nov. 1, the group has announced a new fund to raise money for future trail enhancements.
Trail Work Day
The trail work day will be held Sunday, Nov. 1, from 10 am 4 pm. “We’re hoping to get a lot of work done to ready the trails for mountain biking and skiing,” said Brian Fitzgerald. “Whether people can help all day or for just an hour, any time is appreciated.”
The Friends group will provide all equipment to perform trail blowing, branch trimming, rock and root removal and hole filling on the trails. Meet other mountain bikers, runners, and Nordic Skiers and help improve 16 miles of cross country ski trails and 9 miles of mountain bike trails in Peninsula State Park for everyone to enjoy. Al Johnson’s is generously donating food and beverages for volunteers at 4 pm.
To help at the trail work day, RSVP by email to email@example.com or call 920.421.1518, then check in at Lot 5 on Highland Road Nov. 1 (turn east at the corner of Hwy 42 and CTY A).
Trail Fund Announced
The Friends Group is also offering trail enthusiasts the opportunity to make an even greater impact on the sustainability of Peninsula State Park’s trails this fall. Any new member of the Friends of Peninsula State Park who signs up before Dec. 1 can choose to designate 100% of their membership fee directly to the Trail Improvement Fund. This is a fantastic opportunity for trail users to join a great organization while contributing directly to the improvement of the aspect of the park you enjoy most.
