      The ninth annual Spooktacular hike was held on Saturday evening October 9, 2010. The event netted $2,500 which will be used to support Peninsula Nature Programs.

      Blossomberg Cemetery "came alive" on August 3, 2010, as members of the Friends of Peninsula State Park and other volunteers presented information about some of the people buried at this historic cemetery.

      Candlelight Ski - Lots of Smiles Candlelight Ski (2/6/2010)

      Lack of snow turned the ski into a walk. But that did not stop people from coming! Almost 300 people participated in the walk put on by park staff and with assistance of Friends volunteers.

      Gold Star Awards - 2009 Gold Star Awards (11/1/2009)

      The Friends of Wisconsin State Parks (FWSP) sponsor a yearly contest to recognize outstanding features of Wisconsin State Parks. These photos are from 2006 - 2009's award banquets.

      The work crew on November 8, 2008 gathered for a lunch break. Invasive Eurasian Honeysuckle is prevalent in this area and continuing work days are being scheduled to remove the honeysuckle and help restore this area to a more natural state. Gibraltar Outdoor Classroom (11/8/2008)

      A partnership between Peninsula State Park, the Friends of Peninsula State Park, the Friends of Gibraltar and the Door County Invasives Species team, are working together to create an outdoor classroom just behind the Gibraltar School.

      We gathered on Saturday, September 20 for the second annual Friends meeting held at the Welcker's Point shelter house.

      The sixth annual Spooktacular hike was held on Saturday evening October 6, 2007. The weather was perfect. Over 1,000 people took the hike. Over $2,000 was raised to support nature programs at Peninsula State Park.

      28 people attended this historic first annual Friends meeting held at the Welcker's Point shelter house. The weather was beautiful, the food was excellent, dessert was great, but the highlight was the presentation given Bob Bultman, invasive species team leader for Door County.

      In May 2007, the Friends hosted a lunch for the Boy Scouts and their leaders that participated in the butterfly garden project at the Nature Center. The lunch was wholesome and the scouts and leaders enjoyed the lunch break.

      May 2007. The Lighthouse Walk weekend was approaching. Park Manager Tom Blackwood asked if the Friends could clear garlic mustard from the triangle area just north of Eagle Bluff Lighthouse.

Peninsula Treasures


    Horseshoe Island: Horseshoe Island, the only island that is part of Peninsula State Park, is picture perfect from Nicolet Bay. It lies about one mile north of the park's popular swimming beach. It is accessible only by boat. Engelmar Trail, a one-mile rustic path, meanders the circumference of the 38-acre island.
