    Location: White Cedar Nature Center

    Learn how you can help us as a Nature Center volunteer. You'll get an orientation to the center and learn how to do key tasks to open, operate, and close the center.

    A Day with Ron Preston

    Begins at 12:00 am

    Ends at: 12:00 am

    Location: Peninsula State Park (various locations)

    Ron Preston, San Carolos Apache and Headman Dancer at Gathering of Nations, will present his first dance in full regalia, complete with colorful ribbons and loud bells. Park visitors will see several of his sacred artifacts and learn their meanings. After Ron’s performance, visitors will learn traditional uses of Peninsula plants. Children will have the option of creating art and playing games based on native lore.

    Talking Tombstones

    Begins at 10:00 am

    Ends at: 12:00 pm

    Location: Blossomburg Cemetery

    Please mark your calendars for Tuesday, July 23. Peninsula State Park, with volunteer help from the Gibraltar Historical Society, will offer Talking Tombstones.

    Drop in anytime between 10 AM and 12 noon. No state park vehicle sticker required to attend the program, as it takes place in the town cemetery. No Rain Date – Program will not be rescheduled.

    Golf Fundraiser for Peninsula Friends

    Location: Peninsula Golf Course

    We are pleased to let you know that our very first golf scramble fundraiser will be held September 8 at the Peninsula State Park Golf Course. The Friends of Peninsula, in conjunction with the Peninsula Golf Association, are putting on this golf scramble fundraiser. Profits from the fundraiser will benefit two projects at the Park:

    • the renovation of the Memorial Totem pole, located near hole number nine and overlooking the burial site of Chief Simon Kahquados of the Potawatomi nation,
    • the renovation of the White Cedar Nature Center, centrally located in the park, to include additional storage, lavatories, and other much needed updates.

    More details will be forthcoming but mark your calendars and plan to join us for this exciting and fun event

    Eagle Tower: At 75-feet tall, Eagle Tower offers extraordinary views of Green Bay islands and even the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Originally built as a forest fire observation platform (1914), the tower stands 225 feet above the water.
