New Eagle Tower Hiking Shield Available

New Eagle Tower Medallion

A new hiking shield featuring Eagle Tower is available to Peninsula State Park visitors. The new design is a traditional bronze and features a favorite Peninsula landmark. Because the design is smaller than the previous one, and without color, we are able to offer it for $4 including tax instead of $5.

As with all Friends merchandise, all proceeds benefit Peninsula’s interpretive program and trail improvements.

Why not purchase one ($4, tax included) as a “stocking stuffer” when you pick up your 2012 state park vehicle sticker?

If you need additional information, call Peninsula at 920-868-3258.

Friends Help with Deer Exclosure Repair

Whitetails Unlimited awarded a grant to Friends of Peninsula State Park  in November. The grant will help fund repairs to the park’s three deer exclosure cages, first constructed in 1992. The cages were damaged in a recent windstorm.

The exclosure cages provide study sites for university students, including one who conducted an herbivory inventory inside the cages in 2011. This student was the first recipient of an FPSP Research Endowment grant.
