Learn about Fur Trade at the Nature Center

Gary Marciniak is at Peninsula State Park’s Nature Center from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. through Wednesday, July 13.

See tools and trade items from Wisconsin’s fur trade era. Kids are invited to make an authentic wampum bracelet, too. Donations for beads appreciated.

    Horseshoe Island: Horseshoe Island, the only island that is part of Peninsula State Park, is picture perfect from Nicolet Bay. It lies about one mile north of the park's popular swimming beach. It is accessible only by boat. Engelmar Trail, a one-mile rustic path, meanders the circumference of the 38-acre island.
